Smile photographs can help you communicate preferences. They cannot predict your result or substitute for an examination.
What to discuss at your appointment
Look for similar angles, lighting, and expressions. Ask whether the examples show actual patients of the treating dentist, and which procedures were performed. Compare natural-looking proportions and the overall smile rather than the whitest possible shade. Save examples you dislike as well as ones you like.
Three questions to take with you
- Are these your own cases?
- What treatments produced the change?
- How does my starting situation differ?
Plan your next step
Write down the answers, the proposed appointments, and any information the office needs from you. If the explanation is unclear, ask for a written summary before deciding. Your own goals and the findings of an examination should guide the final choice.
